Five ways to be inspired by women around you
It doesn’t matter who or where you are, chances are you have a few women in your life. Some might be close to you and some might be women you see in passing, but each of them has a story choma. You might be walking by women who make a difference every day without even knowing it! The most inspiring women could be the ones right next to you. So here’s how to be inspired by other women around you so that you can be inspired to be a great woman yourself.
Don’t prejudge them
Have you ever heard the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover”? Well, this simply means don’t judge someone or a situation based on what you see on the surface. This is especially true when it comes to women because a lot of us might judge a woman and her value based on what she looks like – or simply based on the fact that she’s a woman. You may have heard things like “women like gossiping”, “women backstab each other” or “women are jealous of each other”. But believing those things just keeps us from forming good, meaningful relationships with other women. In order to make the most out of each other’s strengths, we need to see beyond the stereotypes chomas.
Be interested in them
To be inspired by someone, you need to learn more about them. Be interested in the lives of the women around you. Ask them questions about who they are and where they come from. Ask them more about what they’re doing now and what they want to achieve. You might find someone who has a common goal as you or who is already doing something that you want to be a part of.
Find qualities you like about them
From your friends and classmates to your mother and grandmother, all women have qualities that we can admire. Try this choma, when you’re sitting in a room with other women (whether it’s the classroom, an office or your living room), look around you and name one thing that you like in each of the women you’re sitting with. Find at least one quality in them that you would like to have. For example, your best friend might be someone with a positive attitude and your grandmother might be very patient – both of these are qualities that might inspire you to one day be a great leader!
Learn from them
If you find that there are women in your life who know something or do something that you’re interested in, ask them to teach you. Whenever you meet someone new, there’s probably something that they know and you don’t – and vice versa. Everyone has different life experiences and so it’s normal to find other girls and women who know more or less than you choma. It should never be a competition when it comes to experience or intelligence. If someone does something that you want to do, take some time to learn from them.
Be willing to grow with them
You don’t just have to be inspired by women who are more experienced or older than you. You can be inspired by any woman. You can be inspired by young girls who are trying to achieve more in life or ladies who are working hard to make any situation work. Inspiration can also come from being with women that all want to grow together. So even if you are in a difficult situation with other women, it might be the perfect opportunity for you all to develop together and inspire each other.
The best type of inspiration could be right where you are, with the women you’re surrounded with. Women are strong and motivating and there’s so much we could do together if we all learn from one another.
Happy Women’s Month chomas!
