5 things we’re leaving in 2020
As we look back on the year, it’s good to reflect on the habits you’d like to leave behind, to make way for new things. Here are 5 things we should leave in 2020.
Whether it’s a toxic romantic relationship or a friendship, it should have no place in your life. This is a good time to choose to walk away from relationships that no longer serve you and bring more harm than good in your life.
Building your confidence can be a challenging thing to do, but it’s something you need to work on over time. Doubting your abilities and talents can hold you back and make you miss a lot of opportunities. Rather choose to believe in yourself and work towards your dreams - you’ll be surprised at how much you can achieve.
We all struggle with procrastination every now and then, but this habit can hold you back from a lot of opportunities and lead to last-minute panic and stress. As we start the new year, choose to let go of this bad habit and use your time wisely.
Substance abuse is a huge problem in our country and it contributes to issues like violence, abuse and risky sexual behaviour. While there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a drink with friends during a special occasion, it can be harmful to your health if this is something you do all the time or if you’re experimenting with illegal substances. Do you think you might have a substance abuse issue? Take one of my quizzes to find out and read this article to see where you can get help.
Not putting yourself first
Not prioritising yourself and putting everyone else first can seem like a good thing at first, but it can leave you feeling frustrated and resentful of others. Putting yourself first doesn’t mean that you’re being selfish, it just means that you take care of yourself first before taking care of others. This will make you happier and will ensure that you’re able to also take better care of those around you because you’ll be in a much better space yourself.
Is there anything else that you want to leave in 2020? It’s a good idea to make a list of these things and then write down all the good habits you want to adopt. Setting goals and working on yourself is a form of self-care and it will help you feel better about yourself over time.
