How to master the natural make-up look

Has the natural make-up look been a fav of yours lately? Here are my tips on how to master that look and get your natural glow on!

Step 1: Create a good base

BB creams are a lighter substitute for foundation. You can start your natural make-up look by applying a BB cream that matches your skin tone, to instantly brighten and beautify your skin. Blend it in with a damp makeup sponge for a moist finish. If you go for a BB cream with hydrating properties, you can wear it without a moisturiser. Here’s a great BB cream that you can get at Clicks for R69.00.

Step 2: Brighten & illuminate under-eye & t-zone

Once you’ve got your base down, apply a lightweight concealer under your eyes, at the outer corners of your eyes and along the bridge of your nose, extending up to the centre of your forehead. Choose a concealer shade that’s two shades lighter than your foundation/BB cream for the best brightening effect. Remember to blend the concealer in an outward motion. You can get this concealer at Clicks for R31.00.

Step 3: Set your face

Apply a mattifying powder to your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin to set your makeup and absorb excess oil control shine all day long. Whisk away any excess powder with a cotton ball or powder brush. You can get this matte finish powder for R63.00 at Clicks.

Step 4: Highlight high points of the face

Apply a subtle, light-catching highlighter along the top of your cheekbones and brow bones with a slim, tapered brush. Highlighters compliment all skin tones, and they leave your skin with that perfect glow. You can get this liquid drip highlighter for R49.00 at Mr Price.

Step 5: Dust colour onto cheeks

Blend a pink-toned blush onto your cheeks, extending up and out along the cheekbone for a noticeable, yet natural looking flush. You can get this blush palette at Mr Price for R79.99.

Step 7: Define & fill in lips

For a perfect finish, line your lips with a nude lip liner. Start by defining your cupid’s bow. Simply draw an X at the top centre of your lips, then outline the outer sides. Finish by filling in your lips with a nude, creamy lipstick. You can also use a simple lip-gloss to finish off your look.

Most people prefer the natural makeup look because it enhances your beauty without being too much, and it gives you that natural glow. What’s your fave way to achieve a natural look? Share your tips with me in the comments below!
