No sweat summer beauty advice
Keeping cool, calm and collected in the face of a summer heat wave can be a mission. Here's a bit of no sweat summer beauty advice to keep you looking fresh and at your best, even on the hottest and humid of days.
Get rid of shine
How annoying is that film of sweat on your forehead? Avoid that obvious shine at all costs. In summer it's best to switch to a gel foaming cleanser and oil-free day cream with sun protection. Don't powder your whole face either. Add some colour to your cheeks and just touch up with powder on 'shine' areas.
Skip heavy make-up
Look fresher and brighter by wearing make-up with a light texture. Use a lighter foundation or go for a lip-gloss instead of a lipstick. You might also want to invest in a primer. It's a type of moisturiser that helps your make-up go on smoothly and helps it stay in place.
Don't let your make-up smudge or run in the heat. Try waterproof mascara and eyeliner for a perfect look.
A body spritzer does not smell as strong or last as long as your regular deo or perfume. It is used more to freshen up. A quick burst of fragrance every now and again can help cool you down and smell fresh.
Avoid sweat stains
No one wants ugly sweat stains under their armpits wearing their favourite summer top. Neither do you want that uncomfortable feeling of sweat trickling from your armpits. Be sure to get yourself a heavy-duty antiperspirant roll-on that keeps it all dry and cool.
Say no to frizz and fuzz
Frequent heat styling can damage your hair cuticle to the point that hair becomes a frizz and fuzz party in humid and hot weather.
The cure is to boost the moisture in your hair. Try a deep moisturising hair mask once a week or a leave in conditioner each time you wash your hair. Use a heat protecting serum on your hair before applying heat to it.
Remember looking fab, no matter the weather, requires you to carry yourself with confidence and don’t forget to smile.
