Hello 2018: Choma’s New Year Message
Welcome back and happy New Year Chomas! I hope you all had a great, fun and safe holiday, and that you’re feeling refreshed and ready to get back into action. A new year always brings a new hope for change, and I’m really excited for all the change that 2018 can bring. Here are a few ways you can make your 2018 healthier.
The first step to changing anything is to change your mindset, and thinking from a new perspective. A healthy mind allows you to tackle life’s challenges with a clear plan of action, and with purpose. It doesn’t mean you don’t get affected by the things that happen on a daily basis, it just means that you’re able to deal with them in a healthier and more positive way. For example, conflict is a normal part of life, but how you deal with conflict is all about the state of your mind. You can read these tips for a healthier mindset.
Love is what gets us through everything. Whether it’s from family, friends, a significant other or from yourself, healthier love means support, understanding, compassion and care, and so much more. So this year, while you’re working on the changes you want to make in your life, make love (self love in particular) an important focus. You can also read up on keeping your ‘sexpectations' healthy here or your love life healthy here.
Now we all know change can’t come without action, as you know, last year I launched a section on the website called Make A Noise where you can use your voice to stand up for change you believe in. Even though we can’t change the world alone, we can make small changes that mean something in our communities, spaces and most importantly in ourselves. It’s these small changes that can inspire greater change some day. Have you made your noise yet? You can right here Choma
All in all, I hope 2018 will be the greatest year we have together as the Chomas, and I’m really grateful for all the stories you’ve shared with me as your big sister, it’s that kind of sharing that helps to give a voice to those who can’t speak for themselves. Most of all, I hope 2018 is a great year for you to do even better than you have before. Here’s to more self-love and healthier choices!
