How do I approach my crush?

I often get asked a lot of relationship questions, especially questions relating to being attracted to someone: “I like someone, how do I tell them how I feel?” or “How do I approach my crush?”

Developing a crush on someone and wondering how to act on it is something we all go through at some point Choma. So what’s the best advice for approaching someone you like?

Here’s my advice Choma:

The first thing you should know is that it’s ok to feel nervous. It’s completely normal to feel this way, especially if you’re worried about rejection. Just be confident in who you are and remember that no matter who you are, you are a catch and that you have a lot to offer!

Sometimes the best place to start, is with something as simple as a smile. This will help you make initial contact with your crush. But if you think simply smiling at them will be too cheesy or feel weird, why not just try making conversation with them? Remember to be yourself. Ask them a question about something they’re doing, reading, holding or wearing. This will help break the ice and get the two of you talking.

If the two of you are enjoying the conversation, ask them if they would like to continue the conversation over coffee, lunch or even on WhatsApp. This will allow you to both see if there is a spark and if things can develop from there.

This can be scary if you’re a really shy person, but keep reminding yourself that you have a great personality and have a lot to offer. If the person is not interested Choma, then it’s not the end of the world. It just means that you are not a good fit for each other, which is not the end of the world. At the right time you will find the right person.

Good luck Choma!
