Keeping yourself busy these holidays

Looking for ways to keep busy during the holidays? Don’t worry, Choma, I’ve got you. With all this free time you can finally do things that you have been putting off and use this time to get your life in order. Here’s a list of other things you can do.

Reflect on the year

To make sure you learn from the mistakes of the previous year and leave the 2019 baggage behind, here’s a little activity you can do:

Take out a sheet of paper and answer these three questions;

What did I do well this year?

What did I not do so well and how can I improve?

What will I do differently in the coming year?

This will help you forgive yourself for your mistakes and guide you towards making better decisions. You are a work in progress, Choma!

Watch YouTube tutorial videos

Is there a skill you would like to pick up or something you want to master? There are lots of different videos on Youtube that can teach you just about anything. So rather than spending your time watching TV, learn something new on Youtube.

Get a job

If you want to make some extra cash and keep yourself busy before school opens, then it might be a good idea to get a job. Some retail outlets and restaurants are very busy during this season so they will be more than willing to hire people who can help.

Read

Schools close at the end of the year, but community libraries do not. Reading is such a good way to learn new things and keep yourself busy. Visit your nearest library and borrow a few books to read over the holiday.

Organise your space

Start the new year on a clean slate, organise your space – clean your cupboards, get rid of things you don’t need and make space for new things. This is also a great opportunity to start sleeping well, and start an exercise routine.

Having too much free time can be boring, which can lead to doing things you are not very proud of. Avoid this by keeping yourself busy with things that are productive and add value to your life. Happy holidays!
