Quiz: Do you have a type?

Dating is a rollercoaster, sometimes it’s fun and sometimes it’s stressful. Often times you find yourself in the same kind of relationships over and over again. On the other hand, you might find yourself in situations where each partner brings a totally different experience. So which situation best describes you? Here’s a quick quiz to find out whether you have a type or not:

What type of people are you attracted to?

  1. People with a certain look or personality
  2. I can’t really say

How easily are you put off by someone?

  1. I can tell almost immediately that someone isn’t right for me
  2. I tend to give people a chance before realising they are wrong for me

Did the last few people you dated have anything in common?

  1. Yes
  2. Not really

When you meet someone you…

  1. Have a specific checklist of traits or qualities I ask them about
  2. Just go with the flow and see if we gel

If you like someone but then find out that they don’t have a specific thing you’re looking for in a partner (like a certain job, goal, personality trait etc.) what would you do?

  1. Probably leave the relationship
  2. If I like being around them, I wouldn’t mind

What’s the most important thing to you when looking for a partner?

  1. That they meet certain standards I have
  2. I don’t have a specific thing, as long as I like them

ANSWERS:

Now that you have answered the quiz, it is time to calculate your results. Simply count all your results to see if you answered mostly As or Bs.

MOSTLY A’s

It looks like you definitely have a type when it comes to romantic relationships. Whether you go for certain looks or personality traits, you’re more specific about what you want. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with that if the relationships work out for you. However, if they never workout, then you should consider being a little more adventurous and try to be with someone you normally wouldn’t go for (like the ‘nice’ guy for example). Having a type only works if you find yourself consistently in healthy relationships because of that choice. At the end of the day, no matter who you go for, make sure that the person you’re with is kind and respects you.

MOSTLY B’s

It seems like you don’t like boxing people in, and don’t seem to have a specific type that you go for. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with not having a type – in fact, it is a good thing because it means that you’re open-minded and you’re willing to give anyone you vibe with a chance. You have to be careful though, because being too “care-free” can result in being in relationships that simply don’t work out. Sometimes it’s good to have at least an idea of the right person for you so that you don’t accept less than what you’re worth. You can even start with simply having relationship goals. Read this article to keep in mind the relationship goals you should work towards.

We all look for different qualities in partners and there might be a pattern with the people we date – and that is perfectly okay. Whether you have a type or not, you should always aim for healthy relationships and keep in mind that people are different. Sometimes getting out of your comfort zone is what you need, because that’s where you might find your happiness.
