Reasons why a break up shouldn’t break you

Breaking up with your partner is not an easy thing to go through, especially if you’ve imagined a future with them. Unfortunately, life doesn’t always go the way we want it to go and we find ourselves having to end a relationship with someone for many reasons. Here’s why a break up shouldn’t break you.

Relationships are allowed to fail

We all know that relationships end but we never think that it will happen to us but the truth is that we should be willing to let go of relationships that no longer bring us joy. Relationships end and that’s a normal part of life, it doesn’t make you or your partner a failure.

You are worth more

Remember that you had a life before the relationship, so the end of any relationship shouldn’t define you. You should be able to live your life after a break up because you are more than your relationship and no one should have the power to define your worth. You deserve happiness and if the relationship brings only hardships, arguments and distrust, then it’s a good thing that you let go of it.

The pain is temporary

Although the pain you feel after a break up can be overwhelming, it doesn’t last forever. You will heal from it and after a while you’ll get used to not having the person in your life. Be patient and allow yourself to go through all the different emotions. Remember, you don’t have to go through any of it alone – I’m always here if you need to talk.

You will move on

I know that it feels impossible after a break up, but you will move on and find happiness. You don’t have to be in a relationship to be happy, in fact, it’s always better to focus on building your own happiness so that you don’t depend on other people to feel complete. The best thing to do after a break up is take stock of your goals, look at everything else that you have going for you and give yourself all the love, care and attention you need.

Break ups are tough, but they should never make you feel like a failure. Be proud of yourself for being strong enough to walk away from a bad relationship and focus all your energy into building the life you want.
